have fun in cebu

Because of the global crisis every country is experiencing right now, it has been noted that the number of visitors from other countries are falling. Hotels are no longer overbooked and foreign-looking individuals are less visible these days. But to one who care less about this economic downfall, you better pack up now and have a flight booked for Cebu, Philippines because in here, one can still afford to offer a big smile and great hospitality despite the high cost of gasoline nowadays.
Cebu still is the most affordable vacation site and you can extend your happy moments with your loved ones in the nearby islands like Bohol, Bantayan island, Malapascua, Dumaguete, etc. One can easily visit these places thru boats, fast craft or a long drive with boat transfers...If you want some help with the booking, just leave a message or a comment in this blog and leave your email address so that I can help you find the most affordable, if not the most expensive and memorable stay..

Cebu Discovery

"On March 16, 1521,
When Philippines was discovered
by Magellan,
They were sailing day & night,
across the big ocean,
until they reached Limasawa island.

And when Magellan landed in Cebu City,
Rajah Humabon met him,
They were very happy...

When Magellan visited in Mactan
to Christianize everyone,
But Lapulapu met him on the shore..."

That's an excerpt from the song of the famous Yoyoy Villame who recalled how was Cebu Island and Mactan Island were discovered by then Ferdinand Magellan and then later on town of Mactan was named after the local hero Lapu-lapu (it is Lapu Lapu City).
Before the Spanish era, Cebu was just a sleeping town until such time when Magellan arrived, it is then the start of its civilization and at the same Roman Catholicism has started. It was during the Christianization/Baptism of the people that Sto. Niño was recognized and later on made Cebu famous.
As evidenced by the Spanish regime, one can see many stone-walled buildings/architectures here. One of them is the known Basilica del Senior Sto.Niño, the home of the miraculous Sr.Sto.Niño.It was built five centuries ago by many Cebuanos under the scrutiny of the Spaniards.
Outside the Basilica lies the famous Magellan's Cross and few blocks away is the Fort San Pedro.Just by merely looking on these architectures, one can imagine how many barrels of sweat were shed by those people building it knowing that these were made with bare hands.
Mactan Island is a small island near Cebu mainland. At present, the two islands are now connected with two bridges.Long ago, this island can be reached only by boats. The area where Magellan and Lapulapu had a battle is located few kilometers away from the city proper. The area is presently preserved and the "Battle of Mactan" is re-enacted every April 27 of the year. There is no much architectural evidence of Spanish regime in this area, because they were not allowed to govern in this area and to recall, it is here where Magellan, head of the Spaniards, was killed in the battle.
Presently, Cebu City and Lapulapu City are the most progressive and industrialized cities in the Philippines and the most visited by foreigners.
